SALISBURY, MD — James M. Bennett showed early promise Thursday night, moving deep into Wicomico territory on its opening opportunities, but the Clippers couldn’t cash in.

Wicomico seized control with a touchdown pass and never looked back. A fake punt conversion helped spark the Indians’ offense, while big passing plays set up another score before halftime.

The second half turned decisively in Wicomico’s favor when the Indians returned a Bennett punt for a touchdown. The Clippers couldn’t gain tractions and Wicomico added another tough touchdown catch by Kaileb Tilghman (4) through traffic, and another touchdown reception by Wicomico.

Bennett battled into the fourth quarter, but turnovers and a relentless Wicomico defense prevented any sustained comeback effort. An interception by Derrick Houston (71) ended the Clippers’ final promising drive as the Indians cruised to a convincing home victory.

The win showcased Wicomico’s physical play and ability to capitalize on opportunities, while Bennett struggled to find consistency on offense throughout the night.
