Haynie’s Late Goal Lifts Crisfield Past Snow Hill 1A East II Semi Final

CRISFIELD, MD — The MPSSAA 1A East II Semifinal between Crisfield and Snow Hill delivered exactly what playoff soccer fans expect: intensity, defensive excellence, and a dramatic finish. When the final whistle sounded, it was Crisfield celebrating a hard-fought 1-0 victory after Connor Haynie (20) scored the game’s lone goal with just 55 seconds remaining in regulation.

Defensive Battle Keeps Match Scoreless

Snow Hill entered the contest coming off a first-round bye, while Crisfield advanced after defeating Cambridge in the previous round. Both teams showed why they had earned their spots in the semifinal, applying pressure throughout the afternoon and refusing to give ground in a tightly contested matchup.

The game featured quality chances on both ends of the field, but neither team could break through thanks to outstanding defensive play and strong performances from the goalkeepers. Crisfield’s Carter Marsh (00) and Snow Hill’s Gavin West (0) consistently came up with key saves, turning away scoring threats and keeping the score tied deep into the second half.

Both squads remained aggressive while maintaining their defensive shape, creating a playoff atmosphere where every possession and scoring opportunity carried added significance.

Haynie Returns to Deliver Game-Winner

Crisfield faced an early scare when Haynie suffered an injury during a first-half scoring attempt. After leaving the field, he was not seen again until returning in the second half. His return would ultimately prove to be the difference.

Snow Hill also dealt with adversity after a key player went down with an injury just minutes into the match, creating a void in the Eagles’ attack. Despite the setback, Snow Hill continued to battle and generate opportunities while matching Crisfield’s intensity throughout the contest.

As regulation wound down and overtime seemed inevitable, Haynie delivered the decisive moment. With only 55 seconds left on the clock, he found the back of the net for the match’s lone goal, lifting Crisfield to a 1-0 victory and a spot in the next round of the MPSSAA 1A East playoffs.

The semifinal showcased the determination and perseverance of both programs, with neither side backing down in a physical, competitive matchup. In the end, one late strike was all Crisfield needed to advance.

With the victory, the Crisfield Crabbers will advance to the MPSSAA 1A East II Region Championship Game, where they will travel to Mardela High School to face the Warriors on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Crisfield will look to carry the momentum from Haynie’s dramatic late game-winner into a matchup with a Mardela team seeking a regional championship berth of its own.
